This is a question Faking it

Rakky writes, "We've all done it. From qualifications to orgasms, everyone likes to play 'let's pretend' once in a while."

So when have you faked it? Did you get away with it? Or were your mendacious ways exposed?

I hate to let people down...
I'm the type who really enjoys telling stories and relating to people; so I always feel terrible preventing someone from doing the same by saying "Yeah, I already know this".

It wastes a lot of time in tutorials and I've got friends from whom I've heard the same stories about ten times but more often than not I'm just happier keeping quiet about it.

So, I fake interest and ignorance all the time.

Tell me about it
I have a friend that has been telling me the same stuff for 10 years now, I once told him that "you've already told me this" and he took offence.

So now I just politely listen & secretly wish him dead*

*or to shut up

Fascinating
Do go on. Tell me more.

I do this too
...especially when people begin stories with, "Did you know that..." I usually DO know but don't want them to think I am a know-it-all.

I get
that too.

A "friend" of mine gets very, very angry when i finish his stories for him. He will undoubtedly have taken it from me at some earlier point.

But i've practically mastered the art of false interest. And i pretend each time that my memory doesn't extend as far as the previous day, in order to allow him some cheap victory over me.

He's a wanker.
