But what really gets my goat is this dicsussion about whether he should retain the captain's armband. The fact that it's even being questioned makes the implicit suggestion that he should somehow be a shining example of virtue for everybody.

The very notion that professional footballers should be role models makes me nauseous.

Mistakes were made..
Of course it's unnacceptable to cheat on his wife, but losing his 'job' does seem to be a stretch too far. Considering Wayne Bridge is at a different club, could you imagine someone losing their job just because they banged the wife of a member of staff of a competing company? There is however, the fact that John Terry is someone who is frequently in the public eye and once the media have a hold of a juicy story like this it'll never be let go.

I honestly don't give a toss what happens, but whatever does happen, he won't live it down any time soon. I don't think it's an embarrassment to the country or anything as melodramatic as that, he's just going to have to live with his guilt. I think that's bad enough.

... for "instructing" his solicitors to go for a super-injunction, preventing the press from even mentioning the injunction itself, just so his playing-away remains out of the public gaze and so doesn't adversely affect his lucrative sponsorship deals.
