Have you ever seen these soi-disant "romance" novels?
They're filthy, utterly filthy, chock-full of all sorts of randy goings-on. But they're sold with pretty, girly, "romantic" covers, so they're brushed off as empty, air-headed, disposable nonsense. Kind of like their readers, really.

I was about 12 years old when I read a line about some frumpy bint trembling with passion and eagerly impaling herself on the handsome fireman's shaft. I never picked up one of the books in my grandma's house ever again.
