This is a question First World Problems

There is only one thing money can’t buy — poverty.
We were so poor when I was a nipper that If my father didn't cut holes in my pockets at Christmas, I wouldn't have had anything to play with.

Yeah?
Well WE were so poor that my father couldn't even afford to cut holes in my pockets.
And we couldn't even afford Christmas either.
Or grandparents, definitely couldn't afford those.
