no, I'm the chief technical engineer and 2nd sound engineer at our recording studio
so I see the trends, through the industry gen.know. and publications and the usual gossip and hearsay, and also associate with the bands and 'talk' with them which informs my opinion.

A few of my friends work as techies. Some lead singer with the musically challenged problem described in the OP was having a go at one of them once, "Do you know who I AM?"
Him, calmly: Well, I've been doing this for years, and I only learn the names of bands who get booked twice. I won't learn yours.
