I found a corn snake in my garden
I'd lost him a year earlier, and he had been living off the local wildlife and survived a Cornish winter.

Corn snakes
Make great pets. My ex-wife had two. We used to put them in the loft over the winter months so they could hibernate, provided it doesn't get too cold they're generally fine.
The little buggers do have a habit of making for the nearest source of warmth after hibernating though. Not good when a four foot long freezing cold snake wriggles up your sleeve and wraps itself round your waist.
