This is a question Funerals II

It's been 7 years since we last asked for your funeral stories and what with Lady Voldemort's coming up, we thought we'd ask again.

The deeply upsetting, the sad and the ones that make you want to hug the world all have a place here on b3ta, tell us about them.

Thanks to Pig Bodine for the suggestion

My old bluray player just died.
Five years and two months.
It's tragedies like this that really bring it all home, eh?
(, Sun 14 Apr 2013, 20:03, 21 replies)
Two months out of warranty.
Could have spent that hundred quid on a pie and a pint.

It's got Kirikou et la Sorcière stuck in it and one of those fancy drawers that won't open without power.
I'll have to take a nob-ended screwdriver to the fucking thing.

Have you decided on a burial or cremation?

(, Sun 14 Apr 2013, 21:08, closed)
Might just take it down the rec and kick it to fuck.
Like an unwanted dog.
(, Mon 15 Apr 2013, 7:27, closed)
PJ and Duncan did that to some of their old recording equipment.

Come on grandad, time to modernise.

Why would I bother ripping a bluray when I'm only going to watch it once?
Are you one of these unfathomably dull OCD cunts who archives shit tons of films that they're never going to watch again?

The ray of light at the end of this
is probably not the laser that reads the disc.
(, Sun 14 Apr 2013, 22:12, closed)
I suspect the laser itself is fine.
It'll be [rest of message deleted for dullness]

The real tragedy for me is that I boggled at the idea of an "Old Blu-ray Player"

...surely they've only just come out?

Blimey time goes fast when you're old...

Imagine how I felt.
Of course it's under warranty. Can't have had the thing for more than a couple of years.

Fuck Sony.

I just hope it was quick. My DVD player suffered for weeks before the final gasp. Unpredictable ejection, unable to communicate with the remote, it was terrible to watch. In the end I had to administer the final release with an axe. The kids were devastated, as you could imagine. A terrible scene all round.

New ones are so fucking cheap though.
(, Mon 15 Apr 2013, 18:35, closed)
It was instant.
One minute it was showing a precocious newborn chatting up a naked witch and the next it was kaput.

It's a blessing really.
