My friend did something similar at uniwhile still drunk from the night before, he and his mate from back home sat outside in just their underwear, with some stella and a cap asking for some change.
He was outside our halls which was the main walking route between the other halls/town and half the campus so thousands of people must've walked past. They got £20 which part funded the next night's drinking in which they brought a picnic bench back from the pub.
