Actually...You don't have to be that good at football to make a decent earning.
A friend of mine recently signed for a middling semi-professional side, and made £250 a week after tax.
That might not sound much, but seeing as a) semi-pro players can get second jobs to supplement their income, b) he got injured early in the season and they kept him on their books and c) only 3 years previous he was appearing in the same Sunday league team as me, who could only be described as a 'mid-20's clogger' - it's not bad at all.
Most clubs want players who are fit, healthy, can kick a ball straight and listen to instructions.
