You've screwed up.And you're the kind of person who gambles themselves into debt. Although the swift kick to the testicles your wife is going to give you is going to hurt it's probably better to come clean otherwise there's a fairly good chance that you'll do exactly the same thing again one day and maybe go even further and screw things up irreparably.
Plan a way in which *you* can pay back the two grand without impacting on the wife over a period of time and you may come out of this okay in time.
If it's any consolation I spelt 'irreparably' correctly the first time and it's made me inordinately happy. Probably not.
