Unable to hold back the genetic tide, I find myself gardening in my carpet slippers, asking for a knife and fork in McDonalds and agreeing with the Daily Telegraph. I'm beyond help - what about you?
Thanks to b3th for the suggestion

Am I the only one who thinks that there is more variety and originality in one song from Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd ("Dazed and confused" or "A saucerful of secrets" as examples) than there is in the entire output of, say, the killers?
Please stop pretending to be good and fuck off.

with a moderately popular 00s band.
Either change LedZep/Floyd to Manfred Mann or Killers to Radiohead and you've got a more reasonable comparison.

I would maintain that Led Zep/Barrett-era Floyd both crap on Lazy-o-eye from a great height, mind you.

Replace the bands with "Dr. John" and "Captain Beefheart" and you have two artists no-one has heard of nowadays, but who still beat the hell out of just about anyone for sheer style.

If you ever watched the documentary where modern groups tried to recreate Sgt Pepper, they were amazed at how much effort was required to get the sounds that are so easy today.
One was playing on a synth, remarking the sounds he could produce in 1 minute would have taken the Floyd days to produce.
I suppose they just put more talented effort into their music. Today many groups sound like they're putting effort in, it's just less talented. Having to think about how to "create" music seemed to produce much better results...

Was that at one point they were using the same techniques.
The kaiser chiefs came on to record. They played the song and were confident they'd done it justice. They then listened to the beatles version, then to their version, and admitted that they were never going to be that good.
