Even worse....I'm genuinely interested in what kind of spade you purchased? Is it good and sharp? The girlie lightweight ones are about as much use as tits on a bull... I like a good heavy one myself.

On the basis that I only have a 7x1' bed...I reckoned cheap and chearful'd be enough. All I want to do is bring out a bit of the soil so that the wall can be repointed, and then put it back again. I really don't need to do much: a trowel'll do for the actual planting and management.
Oh, god. I've just had my first conversation about garden tools.
