My Dad said something similar to me as a kidAnd personally I hate him for it. Turned me into a pessimist, with all the shit that went with it which I am only just recovering from 25 years on. But if it works for you, great.

Well it depends on how you interpret it.I don't assume that everything will go badly. I just assume that everything will be decidedly average. Anything more than that will be a bonus.
Honestly, I have converted a number of people onto this train of thought!
