I foundmost 'Merkin and Oz chocolate to be the same.
Tastes like ash.
Really quite horrible. Every time I go to either of those countries now, colleagues, friends, family et al, all ask me to take Curly Wurlies!

I agree.Most mass produced American chocolate is horrid. There are some small companies that make exceptional chocolate, but it costs more than most spices on a per ounce basis.
Cote d'Or used to be a great commercially available Belgian chocolate over here, until it was bought out by Wal Mart. Its quality has deteriorated since then.
There's a local store that sells fantastic chocolate of every sort, so I can get great chocolate if I wish. For that I am grateful.
