Known in media circles as playing with the "fourth wall"....when an actor in a drama turns to the audience unexpectedly. For my money only Monty Python is on a par with Lovejoy for effective use of the fourth wall. Lovejoy is awesome. I frequently start humming the theme tune when drunk and have tried getting the mobile ringtone. Favorite character is Tinker Dill.
