no matter where i am, i have to count the stairs whenever i go up them. i know how many stairs there are in all my friends' houses and even the pub. i know it's weird, but i just have to.

just the number of steps I take to get up them. It makes me happy when I can make it to the top of my own staircase in four or fewer steps. Then I argue with myself on whether it's the first foot on the top of the stairs that counts as 'finished' or when the other foot lands.

it started when i broke my foot as a child, i'd count them and say to myself "only a couple left, come on, it doesn't hurt that much"
