I blame DOOMWhen I was a kid I spent far too much time playing DOOM, and because I wasn't very good at it I'd quicksave every 20 seconds or so.
Now, 20 years later whenever something important or dangerous is going to happen I find myself tapping my thumb against my palm - quicksaving real life.
I'm very wary of barrels too.

To realisethat "20 years later" isn't actually much of an exaggeration makes me feel old.
