that yellow or white are the highest contrast.
Most subtitles have a contrasting stroke round the edge - normally black. Yellow or white are the best contrast against it.
Having lived abroad for more than 10 years, my experience is that most people prefer the soundtrack in the original, with subtitles. The only case where people prefer dubbed sound is where they either have literacy issues, or are kids.
