I thought Atheism wasn't a religion.
I thought it was being convinced of the non-existence of God. Agnostics think there might be a God, but they haven't figured out which one yet. Neither is "believing" anything.
I agree that an unswerving, firm belief in the non-existence of God, regardless of evidence, a "faith" in there being no God, is irrational though.

Well exactly
if someone believed there was no god regardless of evidence they would be irrational
if someone believed there was no god because there is no evidence, and quite a lot of evidence to the contrary, they are being rational.
