I think it was older even than Leadbellyand the song was originally called Black Girl. My mum has some very very old guitar music for it from when she was a young girl.

Cor!Thanks. I know it from a Leadbelly LP my dad gave me when he got rid of his turntable. He asked for it back when he found out it might have been worth a bit of cash. Unfortunately, I don't know where in my loft it is.
