Nothing Compares 2 U is not a break up song.It's a song about giving up smoking.
Actually, I am fairly sure that's not true, but I was told that at the time it came out and believed it for years.

I just googled the lyrics to see if I was being really dumb or if it could potentially pass as being about giving up smoking.and actually, at a stretch it could. So I am only a little dumb.
And certainly not as dumb as the person who posted the lyrics and prefaced it with 'She wrote this about the death of her baby'. Which I imagine would come as news to Prince.
