I blame women-code.I do it all the time and I don't mean to. I say 'No, don't go mad on my birthday/Valentine's' and when I don't get flowers or a sparkly necklace or whatever, I'm always disappointed. I had to say, a few days after my birthday, 'I know you were gonna give me money for shoes but actually I want a sparkly thing'. I felt awful and now the necklace is sweet but meaningless as I chose it myself.
