Drop in the ocean stuff, I think...Even if everyone in Britain was a paragon of energy saving, the waste that's going on in places like China would mean that we're not really making any difference. If it makes you feel happier then do it. But if it also makes you happy to use a plastic bag to carry your duty-free onto the 747 then go for it!
Edit: that's just my opinion, I'm not really wanting to cause an argument about it.
