This is a question Hypocrisy

Overheard the other day: "I've told you before - stop swearing in front of the kids, for fuck's sake." Your tales of double standards please.

ITN Lunchtime News
Every lunchtime I pop home to walk the dog and have my lunch. Many times I have had the ITN news on in the background.

Day after Day, Katie Derham and Alastair Stewart ham up the news to such ridiculous levels that you too will run screaming into the street at the thought of a 1% drop in the sales of shoes.

Their broadcasts essentially say "Hey you there, stop being so comfortable and happy, you should be scared of THIS, THIS, THIS and THIS , RIGHT NOW!!!" Even when there is good news there is always a "BUT you should still be scared because there is a 0.05% chance things will go wrong!"

It was with open mouthed astonishment that on one quiet news day, when a leading member of commerce warned that there could be more companies going bankrupt in the new year, there main story went along the lines of:

"On this afternoon's programme: Leading member of commerce warns of further bankruptcies, but are these warnings helping or hindering? Are these warnings merely keeping you living in fear?"

I turned it all off at that point.

Katie Derham and Alastair Stewart...

Are they the two where she is quite a bit taller than him... and she always seems to slouch whilst he stands on tippy-toes so she doesn't tower over him at the top of the show?

Yeah
That would be quite a good description of the two.

Have a click
I really, really hate ITN news. I've never felt so patronised by a news broadcast.

"This is what's happening in the world, and this is what you ought to think about it."

Pillocks.

Watch another news program.

It's like complaining about the bigoted, short-sighted views expressed by the Daily Mail, but still buying and reading it anyway.
