Low energy bulbs...... are better left on all the time. They take a long time to start up, and die very quickly if you keep turning them on and off.
They also don't really save any energy, but that's a whole 'nother story.

Urban legend, that one.Mythbusters proved it. There is a brief spike when you turn CFL bulbs on, but turning them off for even just a few minutes more than offsets this. Turning them off when you're not using them saves energy.
