Can you not get Mort Subite? The best BEST kriek beer is Liefmans Goudenband mixed 50/50 with Kriek - Goudenband is a heavy lambic beer without a fruit taste, and it transforms the Kriek into a skull-splitting, orgasmic beer. Tends to be expensive because Rehills tends to sell each bottle for £3, so that's £6 for a beer. But until the Westvleteren monks open a filial in the NE, that'll have to do. Oddly, our Tescos does very wel for beer, good trappist selection.

Yes,I've tried the Goudenband, but never even considered mixing it with the Kriek. I will endeavour to put this right!
