I could understand it if your pipes were blocked,
but not just from a lack of sex. Any excess semen will either be wanked out, or find its own way to freedom whilst you sleep. The bulk of your ejaculate has nothing to do with your balls, anyway, lending more credence to the idea that "blue balls" is simply virgins trying to play up their virility.

Blue balls do happen,
usually back in the day when a girl thought she was doing a bloke a favour by letting him finger her, but was not prepared to go any further.
They don't turn blue, just ache a bit. It is easily cured, as has been noted, by a wank, but then back in the day the shame of having a wank was such that it often took a long time to find a place that was private enough.

Not outright pain, but
I can confirm a definite ache in the Blink baubles if jolly release has not been forthcoming but desire is present for some days. Sometimes a surreptitious stroke of the hornpipe is simply not possible or convenient for a few days, and also some of us have never, ever had an overload induced sleeping ejaculation.

I still get afflicted like this and I am in my 50s having sired two Blinklettes. Sometimes I look forward to the time when desire will be a thing of the past.

But as you quite rightly point out, sperm has little to do with ejaculate - so your argument about exploding blanks firers is scuppered by your own postulation I'm afraid....
