I'm sorry, I've obviously not made my story clear enough"We emailed each other and then as the internet developed..."
When I wrote this bit I was trying to imply the passage of time, I chose 1996 because it seemed an implausibly long time for someone to have an online relationship with someone, I had hoped that by making the story as ridiculous as possible it might better reflect the other stories posted in this week's QotW which I was mocking.
