Mrs SLVAthinks footballers get paid too much. But as I keep telling her, it's a private company and can pay what they like, plus everybody is paid a fraction of what they're worth to the company anyway, which is the old 'exploitation of workers' tenet. Also, how much of their wage ends up in the treasury? Wayne Rooney for example, Wayne Rooney, is probably paying more income tax per week than most people will pay in 10 years.
