"I just thought I ought to tell youthat I'm seeing someone," said the German ladyfriend, just 2 days before my visit. It was over indeed, but having bought a plane ticket I decided I should still go. I don't think she was expecting that. Cue an awkward weekend in her house, with frequent visits from a strapping German chap called Wilhelm. I didn't get much sleep that weekend.
