This is a question Pathological Liars

Friz writes, "I recently busted my mate who claimed to have 'supported the Kaiser Chiefs in 2001' by gently mentioning that they weren't even called that back then."

Some people seem to lead complete fantasy lives with lies stacked on lies stacked on more lies. Tell us about the ones you've met.

BTW, if any of you want to admit to making up all your QOTW stories, now would be a good time to do it.

Please clarify a technical term.
Pathological liar.
Is that when the speaker actually believes everything they are saying, or is that just a symptom?

No apologies for lack of humour (where would I start? Or stop?).

EDIT: What, no answers? I thought some of you were Doctors and Brain Surgeons and Psychiatrists with double-degrees and all.

Dictionary Corner says...
...it's when the person just can't help telling lies, even when it's for no discernible reason, as though the compulsion were an actual psychological disorder (hence 'pathological' = 'referring or related to disease')

Don't think they actually have to believe the lie itself.

They can believe what they are saying...
..as often the lies started off with a core of truth to them. Do an aul Wikipedia for Mythomania. Yay!
