This is a question Pathological Liars

Friz writes, "I recently busted my mate who claimed to have 'supported the Kaiser Chiefs in 2001' by gently mentioning that they weren't even called that back then."

Some people seem to lead complete fantasy lives with lies stacked on lies stacked on more lies. Tell us about the ones you've met.

BTW, if any of you want to admit to making up all your QOTW stories, now would be a good time to do it.

Ex-boss a long time ago claimed:

- to have written most of the games for the Spectrum
- to have written all the comms routines in the Psion organiser
- to have hacked NASA (at age 11)
- to be working with the police on a secret anti-paedophile unit
- to have been a consultant for MCI, AT&T,

In actuality he was a complete Billy Liar with little or no business or social skills, which explains the demise of nearly all his financial ventures.

Sadly he now lectures on computers and the law in a major UK university, so there's obviously a market for bullshit there.

Re: Lecturing
When I was on the course, as mentioned below, there was a software engineering course in the next room. The bloke running the course was always in and out of our room talking to our instructor and talking to the woman who ran the other computer course across the hall.

Turns out he knew next to nothing about programming but was using the old "Keep a chapter ahead of the class and you'll be grand" method. Unfortunately, a few of his class were genuine bright sparks who kept getting ahead of him so he had to ask those more knowledgeable to try and stay ahead.

The cunt even had the cheek to lecture us on our abilities, or lack of same when he filled in for our instructor one week. "You lot will never find employment - why I've worked in lots of IT companies and things would have to be pretty desperate before I took any of you on."

He's a lying spacker
He told me that he'd built a memory upgrade for the Spectrum that could give it 16 meg, without bank switching. He got unhappy when I pointed out that you can actually only address 64K in one go, so unless he'd somehow welded another eight pins onto the CPU I found it unlikely.

I saw him a few weeks back walking down the street. I just cycled past him but the temptation to harm him with my U-lock was pretty strong.
