I know you were right
and that it was the only thing you could do, but I still feel sorry for the kid.
Her dad was a bit of a mug if he really believed
an LCD screen can spontaneously shatter.

I wonder if he took her there knowing that it couldn't have "just happened".
Either the laptop gets repaired or the daughter learns that lies don't (always) work. Some win either way.
