I'll admit, I thought you meant the throwing-jobby.This coffee maker sounds odd though -- what, exactly, is wrong with gritty coffee and surely it costs more using this since you have to replace the filter every time?

Nothing wrong with gritty coffee, per se.I just don't like it, that's all.
The instruction manual says that the filters can be rinsed (gently) and reused, but the filters cost roughly a penny each so I don't bother.
