This is a question Midlife Crisis

I've hit my forties, and my midlife crisis has manifested itself in old band T-shirts and a desire to go on camper van holidays. How has it hit you, or - if you are still a youngling - your elders?

I disagree.
Proper mid-life crisis is a burst of childishness you have "before it's too late", because you were forced by societal pressure to be "old" and "grown up" some time before you were about 22, and spent the next twenty years paying a mortgage and missing out.

What happens to people today is something different - we get to put off growing up until we're in our thirties or forties, and then comes the eventual realisation that you're not actually ever going to be able to complete your collection of Star Wars memorabilia, or ever really play the guitar solo from "Comfortably Numb" *quite* well enough (or at all), or win the TT, or whatever, and that it's time you gave up trying and settled in to something a bit more comfortable and easier on the knees.
