This is a question Mix Tapes

Everyone's made a mix tape (or CD, USB stick, or whatever kids do these days). Mostly to get in someone else's pants, but we're sure there are other, lesser, reasons too.

So, who did you make it for and why?
And... what was on it?

Legend of Holly
Years ago in a small town not far away lived a friend of mine called Holly with whom I shared an occaisonal cigarette. I say a small town not far away, it was fairly far, but thus was our friendship.

Anyway, and no doubt these songs will provide some reference for timing, but Holly disliked her boyfriend of the time and was known for being a bit of a promiscual woman(never liked her that way, a bit of a cruel wit and the MASTER of mixtapes.

Herself and her boyfriend had being going on strong for a handful of months and it seemed they were unseperable. Holly, bless her, couldn't even figure out a way to get rid of him. He laughed off her, "We should break up." comments as jokes, he fended her jibes with humility and sarcasm and apparantly was hung like a dolphin. Of course, no doubt you clever sirs will see what Holly did. I have this mix-tape beside me and have listened to it through the years when faced with my own female troubles (It's not an emotional mixtape, it just makes me laugh). I'd like to think it encompasses all aspects of a failed love. It doesn't have a track list, you need to listen to it through. Took me a while to track down some of these songs.

To George, from Holly.
[circa Oct 2001]

She Hates Me - Puddle of Mudd
This Love - Pantera
F.O.D. (Fuck Off and Die) - Greenday
Kiss This - Aaron Tippin
Filler - Minor Threat
Last Cup of Sorrow - Faith No More
Suicide is Painless - Manic Street Preachers
Good Riddance - Greenday
Jump - Van Halen

Watching George (name changed) come up to us the next day telling us how awesome the mixtape was almost heart breaking. Holly told him to go home and listen to it again, it was important. Apparantly she saw him around after that, but the message got through. I don't know if she reads b3ta or not, if so then the story is mine, eff off. I suppose there'll be plenty of break-up mixtapes, though.

I mentally recalled the lyrics "Go ahead and jump!" and giggled quite a bit. You and Holly get a click.
