When have you had to be brave when all you've wanted to do was weep like a blubber-titted bitch?
Tell us so we can judge you.

before the birth of my daughter I never cried at films. I could watch any emotionally charged film and although I'd recognise it was supposed to be making me cry I'd be rock solid & stoic
Since the birth of my daughter I have cried at children's films (toy story 3, Up) and films that Mrs Duck has selected that I grudgingly watch then get caught up in then end up sobbing like a big girl (Grave of the Fireflies, the Impossible) and even TV programs (can't remember any off hand but I expect that's defence mechanism to prevent merciless piss taking) I'd probably well up at an advert if they did the right combination of music and pathos.
Don't know what's happened apart from I seem to have turned in to a gert big softy

but Up just tugs at the heartstrings by reminding you that a) you've yet to fulfill your dreams, and b) you'll be dead soon, and so likely never will.

...anything involving kids getting hurt - news, films, whatever. Can't handle it at all.

I'm very rarely emotional and struggle to connect with other people. I understand they are upset/happy/whatever but it just goes over my head. I don't really care unless it personally involves me and I'll quite often fake an emotional response cos I know it's expected of me to have one. Sounds selfish and yeah it is but I can't help it.
However, anything at all connected to my daughter, or that makes me think of her/relate it to her etc, and I turn into a weepy, sobbing mess. Kids films, cartoons, books, news stories, documentaries etc. Can't handle it.

Anyone who doesn't get even a bit downhearted at the first 10 mins of this film should probably see a shrink, and then hand themselves in at the nearest police station.
Otherwise it's just a matter of time until another sniper rifle/bell tower incident.
