How nerdy are you?
This week Gary Gygax, co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons, died. A whole generation of pasty dice-obsessed nerds owes him big time. Me included.
So, in his honour, how nerdy were you? Are you still sunlight-averse? What are the sad little things you do that nobody else understands?
As an example, a B3ta regular who shall remain nameless told us, "I spent an entire school summer holiday getting my BBC Model B computer to produce filthy stories from an extensive database of names, nouns, adjectives, stock phrases and deviant sexual practices. It revolutionised the porn magazine dirty letter writing industry for ever.
Revel in your own nerdiness.

I'm an engineer, ffs. Of course I'm nerdy.
A friend of mine and I were out the other night to celebrate me getting a new job (Woo yay houplah!) and we ended up meeting at the most convenient place- Hooters. (Also because he really likes to daydream about the waitresses, of course.) He told me of a girl he knows who's thinking of applying to work there, but he says she's too smart to do the job and wouldn't fit in well- "I mean, the other night she made a Caligula joke! Most of the waitresses here couldn't find Rome on a map!"
I did my best Valley Girl impression. "Of course I know where Rome is- if I drive too far out of the city, my cell phone says I'm there!"
Then I did a double take. "Hey, that proves it- all roads to lead to Roam!"
We had to leave after that.

Please....
Don't you feel strange in Hooters, staring at girls young enough to be your daughter : )

They did for a time.
Fortunately I try to maintain contact with former co-workers after I leave a company- and in this case it paid off nicely.
I have a lot of financial catching up to do now...

I should point out
that Hooters was not really my choice- but it was the best spot under the circumstances.
Honestly, yes, the younger ones do make me feel a little uneasy- I leave the lusting after waitresses to others. I just wanted some food and some beer.

Nothing wrong with lusting
So long as it's just on a 'look but don't touch' basis.
Let me also add my congratulations on the new job! Woo.
