This is a question How nerdy are you?

This week Gary Gygax, co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons, died. A whole generation of pasty dice-obsessed nerds owes him big time. Me included.

So, in his honour, how nerdy were you? Are you still sunlight-averse? What are the sad little things you do that nobody else understands?

As an example, a B3ta regular who shall remain nameless told us, "I spent an entire school summer holiday getting my BBC Model B computer to produce filthy stories from an extensive database of names, nouns, adjectives, stock phrases and deviant sexual practices. It revolutionised the porn magazine dirty letter writing industry for ever.

Revel in your own nerdiness.

i sing along to the mars volta
and i've read every novel terry pratchett has ever written (including the non-discworld stuff, of course). am i a nerd?

it's funny, but over the six pages i've read of this so far, nobody has said "worst qotw EVAR!!11!!1!" or something to that effect. funny how we all like to brag, isn't it?

.
Its a good QOTW though isn't it? It is wide enough that there are lots of things people can talk about, and its not something like "tell us about a time that you were so unhappy you thought you may as well end it all" or something.

I'm with you on the Terry Pratchett side: I've read everything he's ever done, including the guides to the disc world, the kids stuff, the very early efforts, and the cookbook.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried like a little girl when he announced that he's got alzheimers.

alzheimers...
shit. i guess it's a good thing he's nearly got nation out the door. he says he got a few books left in him, so maybe another watch book? moist von lipwig nationalising something else maybe?

that's really depressed me...

I have a feeling the next Moist von Lipwig book is going to be about taxes, but I might be wrong.

Apparently it's a rare form of the disease, and progresses quite slowly. But still, a terrible thing to happen to a man whose entire career is based on his imagination and intellect.

Indeed. It is the best QOTW ever.
Also, I actually asked for a similar QOTW some time ago, so I feel like I won...
