This is a question The nicest thing someone's ever done for me

In amongst all the tales of bitterness and poo, we occasionally get fluffy stories that bring a small tear to our internet-jaded eyes.

In celebration of this, what is the nicest thing someone's done for you? Whether you thoroughly deserved it or it came out of the blue, tell us of heartwarming, selfless acts by others.

Failing that, what nice things have you done for other people, whether they liked it or not?

An offer.
Given my last post in this QOTW, the whole living situation thing is still up shit creek. But a truly humbling thing has happened tonight, which I believe further qualifies.

My friend in Montreal has offered to set me up with a job where he works (video game testing!!!) and get me a room in the shared house he lives in for me and my boyfriend, as soon as it becomes available, and said he'd pay the deposit for it, as he knows I'm skint. I've never met this person, we've been talking online for a couple of years, just never got round to meeting yet, it's nice to know someone cares though.

Not sure whether I can accept, but its the thought that counts.

Go for it
People rarely offer such things if they don't mean them.

Just make sure you do something good for someone else somewhere down the line.

I agree
"Go for it"

Just do it
NOW

I know I should...
As much as I'd love to just 'go for it', I need to apply for the job first, and have some sort of certainty that I have it before I can even consider moving, plus they need to have someone move out of the house, which my friend said is likely soon, but they have no timeframe. I'd be an idiot to not at least try, so I'll do that much, but moving to somewhere that I'm going to have a language barrier terrifies me. But we'll see :p

You overthink things.
And surely they speak English in Quebec just as much as they do French.

.
They do speak English, but not speaking French will hinder me. Most jobs in Quebec would require me to be fluently bilingual. While I can read French reasonably, it's been a long time since GCSEs, and speaking it would be hard.

Could be a murderer.

Game testers make shit money.
We don't even pay ours, since they're willing to do it for free.

^^
Mm, a mate of mine got a job as a games tester. He spent 6 weeks just testing a single level in the same platformer. All he had to do was repeatedly run into the walls. He got given lots of pizza though.
