It's Not What It Looks Like!

What have you done that, in retrospect, you'd really rather nobody had seen, mostly as things just get worse the more you try to explain it?

To me it was just attempting to pull
To my observers that knew her it 'looked' like an attempt to get myself on a register somewhere. Therefore I would imagine 'It's not what it looks like!'.
