Well yes, in theory, there's an engine underneath...but computer-controlled engine management means that it's a whole different ballgame.

It hit me hard.I used to be able to field-strip a Mini 'A' series engine blindfolded. The number of bypass hoses I've changed at the roadside by removing the bonnet, radiator and water pump. There wasn't a bit of those cars I didn't know about.
I got a new MINI and someone asked me where the supercharger was. I opended the bonnet and recognised the dipstick, and that was about it :-(
