I can (when fitter) cycle for hours without music if it's out in the countryside
Of course I don't listen to music while cycling on roads, that's just fucking stupid.

fortunately my route to work takes me down my residential and quiet road, across a busy one
and then the rest of it is parks, and cyclepaths that are away from the road, which is nice.

My work route is 75% main roads
So no music at all. The extra 6 miles is a country cycle path, so I can stick headphones in then.

that's gay
I hate cycling on main roads. I always find the buses go out of their way to scare the shit out of cyclists.

Busses are cunts no matter what sort of road user you are.
Turning right at a roundabout in Uxbridge, just up from the bus station is always infuriating. The bus drivers always try to batter their way over the roundabout without giving way.

The amount of fingers I have to issue as I go by is rapidly developing into truly staggering numbers.

Part of my route is by the high school and college
I no longer cycle there during the school run times, as when it's not buses trying to kill me it's hordes of teenagers stepping into the road in front of me.

I feel your pain
I have to cycle through campus every morning - it's so bad in freshers week I am constantly tempted to mow them down.

As a car driver in a relatively low speed manouevre
I'm pretty happy to risk them running into me, so I refuse to let them win. If I were a cyclist, it'd be pretty scary.

Of course you can have music on - I do
just make sure you can hear the traffic over it.

My earphones are inner ear, sound isolation ones
Plus if I can hear stuff over the music, then I'm not listening to it.
