that's fucking insane here, for 750 I could get a one bedroom apartment on my own and pay all the utilities(

Based on the current exchange rate, $750 is about £450 quidYou'd get somewhere small in my part of the UK for that, or a room in a shared house.
Although the cost of living varies massively depending on where in the UK you are.
