you know Donkey Rhubarb?
www.youtube.com/watch?v=tatccHVfuhA

I am a sucker for steel drums.

I can't get youtube on this
if people could stick the name of the band/track next to the link that'd be great (so I can Spotify it)
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 1:43, Reply)
Aphex Twin, Donkey Rhubarb.

(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 1:44, Reply)
I like Aphex Twin
haven't heard Donkey Rhubarb, will have a look
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 1:46, Reply)
It was a single only.
Great track.

You must know Windowlicker, right? Still sounds superb after 10 years. It has barely aged at all in fact.
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 1:47, Reply)
Now that was a tune
I find myself listening to more and more electronica these days

edit: was hoping to find Windowlicker on Spotify, but sadly there was only the piano cover by Maxence Cyrin. Still worth listening to actually

Avril 14 for spotify purposes.

Do you know Autechre?

And for DnB madness, Come on my Selector by Squarepusher.

Linkage for Jeff & Bella www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxEb2FrQUbE
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 1:51, Reply)
I know Autechre :)
listened to Altibzz just a few minutes ago, also a fan of B12
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 1:52, Reply)
Autechre are the fucking boss.
Incunabula still gets dozer rotation.

Strangers to a tune these days though.
You know Vector Lovers? On Soma. Excellent electro.
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 1:54, Reply)
I don't know much of Vector Lovers
only heard one or two songs.

At this minute my current playlist is quite light. Peaches is back on, followed by yet more VAST, then a bit of RID. I can't imagine VAST being your type of music but you should check it out anyway
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 1:58, Reply)
He is a nice guy, the guy that does Vector Lovers..
I was obsessed with Plaid for a bit a few years ago, then Burial a couple of years back. Then Sunn O))) dragged me off to drone metal land, I have just escaped and am now reliving 1997 via Mo Wax records.

I am not all about the hip hop.
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 2:01, Reply)
Plaid is pretty good
But Sunn O))) just never worked for me.

I am not about the hiphop at all
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 2:03, Reply)
Sunn O))) are categorically not for everyone
As I've got older (I am 31) I have mellowed to house a lot more. Andrew Weatherall is a favourite, his DJ work is phenomenal, especially when you bear in mind his history and his current recorded stuff. You should be able to find enough Weatherall stuff on soundcloud if you are interested. He did Sabres of Paradise and Two Lone Swordsmen as a producer rather than a DJ.
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 2:06, Reply)
I think Sunn O))) just bored me
they weren't pushing really, not enough to keep me listening through the feeling of 'is this ever going to end.'
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 2:08, Reply)
Hmm.
I love Kyuss too.

Likely to be 'not your thing'.

You know I DJ breakbeat, right?

Kyuss, Thumb.
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 2:09, Reply)
I don't even know what breakbeat is
The thing is, I know quite a lot of music and I know what I like, but half of it I couldn't categorise for love or money
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 2:11, Reply)
Breakbeat
Like UNKLE c. Reign, Plump DJs, Lee Coombs, Rogue Element, Slyde, that sort of thing.

It goes Boom Thwack, Boom Boom Thwack instead of Boom Boom Boom Boom.

Alright?
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 2:13, Reply)
Most of those names
mean little to me. But I know what you mean

Edit: listened to the track. It was quite good. Preferred the beats to the vocals
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 2:14, Reply)
Excellent.
People tend to know house. A lot of people think that house and/ or techno is a catch-all term for all electronic music, regardless of form and function.

Winds me up no end (famously I despairingly admit).
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 2:17, Reply)
I like listening to different stuff
I've probably got a fairly unusual collection of music
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 2:20, Reply)
You know this?
www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXl6D4oYIeg

DJ Shadow The Number Song.

Seminal.
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 2:21, Reply)
Not on Spotify :(
did you listen to the VAST track I linked?

Edit: actually you obviously did given the thread start
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 2:24, Reply)
briefly
Sounded like Sunn O))).

I love Teenage Fanclub as well.

Make of that what you will.
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 2:26, Reply)
I'm prejudiced in favour of VAST
the song Touched is in my top ten songs. I don't care how pseudo-soulful it is
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 2:28, Reply)
Why is it spelled in caps?

(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 2:30, Reply)
Because it's an Acronym
Visual Audio Sensory Theatre
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 2:38, Reply)
a cover of wndowlicker is worth listening to ?
Blimey.

What's your favourite Aphex record? Mine is either SAW2 or Richard D James Album.
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 1:57, Reply)
It is indeed
it's pretty much just a piano version though. Odd contrast.

I couldn't pick for the life of me to be honest
