I should have said that every time I read anything from /talk, it seems to mostly consist of unpleasantness. But that might be that only the most unpleasant conversations are worthy of linkage.

meh. It's difficult because there are some people
who've posted personal stuff that I have some sympathy for, because they are regulars here and have real life friends here and are genuinely looking for support. But always, you're laying yourself bare in public. Doesn't always make abuse right, at all, but you can't ever say people didn't leave themselves open to it.
