they know what patterns are so you explain rhythm is just a repeated pattern of sound
and have them clap in time with you counting 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4 before getting them to stop counting and saying tea,tea,tea,tea, instead. Once they have this under control you can teach double time by saying cof-fee. Then you can start combining the two in different ways.Ideally you do this over an hour and they do loads of fun activities on percussive instruments but we had 25 minutes do to them being a nightmare getting changed from PE so it was rushed and shit.
