The Sonics version
Is a lift of The Kingsmen.

Other than the obvious, what ARE the lyrics?

You have it the wrong way round, old boy.
Both bands had it in their live repertoire before The Kingsmen had a hit with it. The Sonics and Wailers were kind of brother bands in the way the MC5 and The Stooges were, swapping band members and playing together in the Tacoma area.
