If that sheikh from the other story and the grumpy old man in the hospital are in any way indicative of the typical Syrian rebel, then they're genuinely just trying to get read of an autocratic regime. They're not extremists and they're not targetting the individual members of the controlling minority. As wars go, that's a pretty positive one.

I think you linked to it, it was maybe a couple of days ago.Some rebel sheikh talking to one of his captives. He let him go see his mum on his parole.
