An even better trickis to walk alongside someone as you pass beneath a small tree when it's been raining or snowing recently. You kick the tree and sprint forward so it all falls on the other person.
It works best with fresh snow. In forestry school we referred to them as "idiot makers".
(as opposed to the widow maker.)
